“We athletes from Southern Italy put our souls into the competitions”: no doubts for Laura Bilotta, Italian diver who will compete in the Universiade’s synchro diving final, on July 5th, at the swimming pool in Naples’ Mostra d’Oltremare, together with her colleague Gabriele Auber who “even if born in Trieste, is passionate about competition just like the other Southern Italian athletes and he proved it with the well deserved bronze for men’s 1m synchronized diving in today’s final.
Bilotta was born in Cosenza and graduated in Law. She works with Italian sport team “Fiamme Oro” and, even though she was born in Calabria, she had never been in Naples before: “a fantastic, pleasant and welcoming city. Naples has nothing to envy, compared to previous editions in Asia”.
About Asia, Bilotta agrees with her colleague that “with their fierce and competitive spirit, Chinese female athletes are the most daunting opponents in each semifinal and final”.
Her career goal is the Tokyo 2020 Olimpics and “of course, to achieve it I must aim at the World Cup first”, she says while supporting with affection and a warm cheering her colleague Auber.
