Giada Andreutti, the Italian athlete of the summer and winter games with a passion for teaching

“I am a particular girl. Besides my principal discipline, which is what I compete for in this Universiade and which I hope to bring to the 2020 Olympics, I practice bob as well. It is a winter sport which I will compete for in Beijing at first and then in Milan Cortina in 2026. This is my dream, since we have been qualified for the winter games’”. Giada Andreutti has a double sport spirit. She was born in 1995 in San Daniele del Friuli and is currently busy with qualifications for the disc throw final, which took place on July 8th at San Paolo Stadium, the 2019 Universiade venue for athletics. This was not an easy qualification, not only because of her rivals, but rather for the difficulties she and her teammates have faced on the springboard. “It was still too slippery and smooth, maybe because it is new. I was forced to wear another pair of trainers in order to rise at least three positions. No one was able to do their own seasonal or personal records.” In any case she is satisfied about the result, which brought her to the final. “I am happy for placing the first throw at the right distance” declares Andreutti. She explains how “my teammates missed this opportunity, as I surpassed them from 60m, when I usually start from 56.3m. This way I advanced from the 7th/8th position to the 4th one.” This is her first Universiade and her first time in Naples, “an amazing and fascinating city. It looks so beautiful while having breakfast on the ship, together with the view of Mount Vesuvius on the gulf. Plus, I love the sea and beaches”. She graduated in Motor Sciences at the University of Udine and is passionate about teaching “since I was a child”. Andreutti will compete in the Italian championship in a couple of weeks and “maybe the World Cup the next year, in order to participate at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics”.
