Studies in biotechnology and 400m in athletics, Italian Virginia Troiani advances to the semi-finals at San Paolo Stadium

“One day I hope to run faster than 53 seconds in the 400m race. As for all other competitions, the World Athletics Championship and the Olympics, we shall see”. At the first tournament in San Paolo Stadium, the venue for athletic competitions at the Napoli 2019 Universiade, Italian athlete Virginia Troiani has not crossed her limits yet, but she managed to advance to the women’s 400m race semi-finals. She stands in the thirteenth position after facing tenacious and difficult opponents. “There are many good athletes, like the Mexicans or the Canadians, but I am not afraid, especially because I know many of them, since I already competed against them at the Youth Olympics”, explains Troiani, born in 1996 in Busto Arsizio and a student of Agri-Food Biotechnology in Milan. “I will graduate on July 25th” – she proudly announces, even if she is a bit anxious about her thesis dissertation. “I would like to continue my studies, mastering in Applied Biology in Nutritional Sciences, maybe relating to sports. Even if I am very close to graduating, I could not miss my first Universiade. Plus, Naples is gorgeous, competing at San Paolo Stadium is simply amazing. The athletics track here gives you an incredible adrenalin rush. The city always deserves a visit, which is something I hope to do once the games will be over and when I will have more time, before going back to University”, she concludes on the courtside.
