Thanks to the 4 goals scored by Krisztina Garda, Hungary has been able to win the final quarter against Australia (with a score of 7-4) and qualified in women’s water polo semi-finals in Napoli 2019. “I am very happy for this victory – explains the Hungarian athlete -. We did not start in the best way (Australia immediately scored 2 goals, ed.). It was like we were still in the locker rooms, like we fell asleep, then in the second quarter we started playing better, putting into practice what we prepared during training. We kept on pushing, and finally we succeeded in ranking among the first four teams of the tournament.”
Aussie Sophie Milliken is disappointed: “We started very well – said the Australian striker after the competition – we were very happy at the start, despite we knowing that Hungary was a very tough rival. We kept defending well, but we had problems in the attack and, as we started losing, we could not fill the gap. After the Universiade I will continue playing water polo: I want to join the Olympics, I aim to Paris 2024.”
