“This was the most important sports achievement so far, after placing fourth at the Junior Olympics, and even more meaningful as I was competing for both my country and the university that selected me to participate in the Universiade”.
Artem Ovchynnikov’s excitement is palpable right after the recurve mixed team third place final, to which he took part on July 13th in Carlo III square, in front of the Royal Palace of Caserta, together with teammate Rodionova, also a winner of a bronze medal in women’s team recurve.
The Ukrainian athlete, an IT student in his home country, is at his first Universiade: “I want to win as many medals as possible, and maybe even go to the Olympics. I also want to establish myself as an IT programmer after graduation”. Artem’s hunger for sports and Olympic fame has just begun.
