“The Universiade is like a great celebration of students from all over the world, a sports festival in which we are proud to compete and win for our own country and universities”.
South Korean So Chaewon, winner of a gold medal together with fellow countrywoman Kim Yunhee in Women’s team compound archery, has no doubt about it.
The final match, which took place on July 12th at the Royal Palace of Caserta against the Turkish team, “was tough, because our opponents turned out to be very strong. We were just as strong though, and we prevailed in the end”, says So. How did they manage to defeat them, then? “We simply trusted each other”, she explains as she flashes a smile at her teammate.
“This is the first Universiade for Kim, and the second for me after Taipei from two years ago”, remembers Chaewon. She has already been to Rome this year, but she promises to come back to Italy again to visit Naples and Caserta, maybe as a tourist.
