China: n. 13 Yang Luchenhong
1) China team has a long tradition in this tournament, despite the disappointing results of previous editions, do you think this year you will reach the podium?
1) “Our goal is to rank among the first eight positions”
2) I noticed you preferred long-distance shots, rather than trying a short-range approach, is this a strategy designed for this specific match, or is it your winning feature?
2) “We have a basic general strategy, but against Canada we choose a more specific one. We have personalised tactics to be used against some of our possible opponents.”
3) What do you think about the organisation of this international competition? Are you excited for tonight’s Opening Ceremony?
3) ” I’m very young, this is the first time I participate in a Universiade competition. I’m happy to join the event, the hospitality they gave us is excellent. I’m also very excited for tonight’s Opening Ceremony.”
Canada: n.4 – Marois Sarah- Jane
1) It has been a difficult match. Which aspect of China’s strategy has caused you troubles? Which aspects of your strategy need improvements?
1) “They play with excellent long-distance shots and for the first half of the match we weren’t able to press them enough. During the second half we succeeded in pressing them and forced them to a short-range game. That’s why we managed to close the score gap.”
2)In your next match you will face the defending champions – Australia. Which strategy will you adopt for this important match?
2) “We don’t know them very well and we haven’t seen them playing yet. We will wait for the match and organise our strategy during the game. We believe in our skills and we are here to win, so we will work hard and do our best.”
3)Despite the negative result, you played a good match. Do you think you can keep this performance level until the end of the tournament?
3) “Yes, I do. My team did a great job in putting me in a good position and allowing me to offer a high-level performance. I will try to do the same during every match, and I hope this strategy will work for us.”
