Italian swimmer Silvia Scalia has won the bronze medal in the Women’s 100m backstroke final at Scandone Swimming pool, with a time of 1.00.43.
“I knew it would have been difficult today, I felt all the pressure of a match in which the stakes are high. More than focusing on a good time, my goal was to win a medal today, as this would have been my first medal in an international event”.
“Compared to yesterday, I felt a little heavier, particularly in the second half of the race. Tonight, I want to recharge so that I can do my best tomorrow”.
For Silvia Scalia, this is the first experience in Naples which she considers “perfect, so far”.
Regarding how she manages sport and study, Scalia says:
“It is a bit difficult, perhaps, because my University involves compulsory course attendance, so I have to devote myself to academics at least one day a week. I take a whole day for it. This is my rule. This way, I feel less worried: I tried to just swim at first, but it was too stressful. As far as I am concerned, I need to concentrate on two activities in my life, otherwise I get stuck on just one thing and this is not the best for me”.
